Each Piece of our Mexican Glassware has been hand blown by talented artists in Colonial Mexico. The nature of this art form means that no two pieces will ever be identical - part of our collection’s elegance and uniqueness. Each style that we offer has been personally picked, with consideration given to providing a product that is beautiful to look at, while remaining practical enough for daily use.
Features inherent in our glass point to a long history of the art form known as ‘hand blown’ or ‘mouth blown’ glass. The glass blower remains a figure steeped in tradition-records show glass production taking off in Puebla in the early sixteenth century, yet techniques and tools have changed very little. Each piece is still produced using a long hollow pipe, a blob of molten glass and old tools, and a ‘pontil’ found on the base of each piece indicating the blowers cut upon completion. The blower’s tools are just that-tools. It is the craft of the artisan that has been passed along through the ages.
